A History

Bible Baptist Church

Benton, Pa

In 1971, Pastor Longnecker, supported by the American Missions for Opening Churches (A.M.O.C.), saw a spiritual need and call to begin a church work in the small town of Benton, Pennsylvania. This church family met in homes and the upstairs of the Town Hall, until they were able to rent a building in town where they worshipped their Lord and Savior.

In September 1978, the church family bought land approximately one and a half miles outside of town on Route 239. In the spring of 1978, the Bible Baptist Church began to break ground, primarily by church family members.

Bible Baptist Church has had five pastors since the beginning of its ministry: the founding pastor, Charles Longnecker (1971 - 1983); Brain Dumond (1983 - 1988); Merlin Schultz (1988 - 1994); Ronald Walker (1994 - 1999); Paul Moseley, Sr. (2000 - present).

Bible Baptist Church is a Independent Baptist Church: fundamental in its belief (We believe that the Bible is God's word for all times); Gospel centered (Jesus Christ is God in the flesh who died for the sins of mankind and will save all who call on Him); and family oriented.

Bible Baptist Church has a desire to serve the Lord by having an effective ministry to the people of Benton and the surrounding communities. Please let us know if we can help in any way.
